D*Face New World Disorder Exhibition At StolenSpace
Hookedblog we lucky enough to be invited over to D*Face's East London studio this week ahead of the opening of his first London show in over five years entitled 'New World Disorder'. This exhibition will showcase a new body of work, and also marks the end of an era at StolenSpace as 'New World Disorder' will be the last exhibition before the gallery relocates to their new premises.
For those of you that don't know, a number of the StolenSpace artists have had their studio spaces on the upper levels above the gallery in the Old Truman Brewery including D*Face. And what with him the last artist to move out of the space he has taken the opportunity to take over the entire space and has invited his fans and guests to explore the vast spaces and his personal studio allowing them to see where this new body of work has been created. On display in these upper spaces will be a selection of works from the D*Face archive - older never before seen works, old stencils used for street pieces and on canvases will be on show alongside sketchbooks, old prints, videos and all the usual stuff you might expect to find in an artist's studio. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity never to be repeated and one certainly not to be missed if you are a fan of the artists work.
When we stopped by the studios/ Gallery there was a team of gallery assistants and helpers running around all busy at work putting the final touches on the space. We were allowed capture some of the works on show and have posted a selection of teaser shots here to give you a flavour of what you can expect at the exhibition. We will add some additional shots of the space and the works once the show has opening so check back with us soon.
The opening reception will take place between 6 - 8pm on the 6th June, with the show opening to the public on the 7th and running at the space until 23rd June 2013. What with the sun out here in London and D*Face's large following we expect the place will be packed to the rafters so we suggest you get yourselves down early if you are planing to attend the preview this evening.
