French Street Art Duo Kamlaurene Visit London
Earlier last week while sitting on the upper deck of the number 149 bus heading north up towards Dalston in East London we caught a glimpse of a tall street art-looking figure on a brightly coloured door out of the corner of our eye as the bus sped up the street.
French Street Artists in London
Later that evening we returned to investigate what we assumed would be a piece of street art and our curiosity was rewarded with large hand paint paste-ups of a tall smartly dressed figure sporting some fancy white shoes! As it was already dark we had to return the following morning to catch some daytime photos of the piece. We had not seen this work up in London before and had no idea who was putting the paper works up on the walls. While shooting this piece we spotted a series of small letters along with the figure's shoe which read ‘Kamlaurene’.
Assuming this was the artist's name we punched it into the search box on Instagram and quickly found the artist's social media profile.
Our search revealed that Kamlaurene was in fact not one but two street artists, a French duo who appeared to have just visited the city and had installed multiple street artworks across East London.
Street Artist Kamlaurene Shoreditch Street Art
With a bit of detective work and a few hours walking the streets of Shoreditch and Brick Lane, we managed to locate and photograph some of the new large-scale street artworks installed by the French street artists.
Unfortunately, a number had already been removed when we tracked down some of the other locations, either painted over or removed completely by the building owners or the council. But we were able to photograph a number of their larger-than-life paste-ups.
We believe the duo is already planning a return visit to London and we look forward to their next trip to the city and discovering more of their large-scale hand-painted works.
